Game Jam Version 2014
Here is another game that was produced in a game jam, this one was made with a couple of designers and a couple of artists. This jam was partnered with the noPILLS project and the goal of my team along with the rest of the other teams at the jam was to produce a game to raise awareness of micro-pollutants in the water cycle. We were given free reign over how we could do that so we made a 2D adventure game telling the somewhat depressing story of a fish trying to survive an equivalent to the apocalypse.
With the help of a couple of artists, we were able to make the game look great and the designers focused on the level design and overall game mechanics, leaving me to do the programming heavy lifting. It was made using Unity3D.
After the completion of the game, one of our team members were sent to Switzerland to present the game to others in the noPILLS project.

Some Time Later…
Version 2
Almost a year later, the team that created the polluted game at a game jam have come together to remake and further develop the game. The message we hope to get across remains the same, Pharmaceutical products being flushed down the toilet is dangerous to aquatic life.
The major developments come in the form of a more developed aesthetics as well as more developed gameplay in the form of a stealth system were the player has to avoid the mutated fish while also dealing with the barrage of pills flowing the players way. This version of the game took 2 weeks to develop and is set to be translated to 7 languages in total. It was a fun little side project that was received well as we presented it to our target audience, primary school children.
